Functional Outcome of Isolated Middle to Distal Third Ulnar Shaft Fracture in Adults with Square Nail Fixation

Introduction: Isolated ulnar shaft are uncommon injuries with most of the fractures occurring following direct trauma. Open reduction and internal fixation plating is gold standard treatment but associated complications. Treatment square nail provides rotational stability, cheaper, safer minimum complications plating.
 Aims: To evaluate functional outcome isolated fracture middle third to distal ulna treated nail.
 Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted in Department Orthopedics at Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital Kohalpur from September 2018 August 2022. Patients aged above 18 below 60 years who had displaced or were evaluated for demographic details, union, All by outcomes using disability arm, shoulder hand (DASH) score Grace Eversmann scoring system.
 Results: In this 39 patients mean age 30.84±8.12 years, 56.4% group 18-30 27 (69.2%) males 12 (30.8%) females. The right limb fractured majority, more commonly involved, physical assault common mode injury, transverse pattern. average time union 11.61±2.74 weeks. Most (74.4%) good result DASH (94.9%) excellent Eversmannscoring final follow-up. complication noted olecranon bursitis (17.94%) followed skin irritation (12.82%).
 Conclusion: Square safe procedure few complications, produces results.
